Blogging Goals for 2015

It's that time of year when we all start reflecting over 2014 and decide how we'd like to better ourselves and our lives in the year to come. There are the healthy eating, weight loosing, and career changing cliches that everybody at one point or another sets for themselves, but this year I'm focusing on my online presence.

Nightly Routine for Blemished Skin | The Video

Getting unready is my favourite part of getting ready and when my skin if feeling a little worse for wear, I like to take a few extra steps to make sure it gets back to being happy and, well, looking better. Here's a short video taking you through my regimen for when blemishes pop up.

Daily Face | Work

Having an oily skin type and working long hours in the hustle and bustle of London means that I've had to come up with the solution to my face quickly becoming a slip-and-slide. I use to think that piling on more meant less would wear off in the day, but that only amounted in a very patchy, cakey looking complexion.

Autumn Awakening

I love Autumn. It means bringing out the chunky knits, layering with neutrals, and smacking on a rouge lip. Everyone looks their best at this time of year and my creativity gets reinspired.

L'Oréal Color Riche | Review

This lipsticks stood out to me as I was walking the isles of Boots. The matte black packaging is really eye-catching alongside the otherwise brightly-coloured drugstore makeup.

Dove Love

Having thick, heavy hair can make finding a good conditioner difficult. Most often they're too smoothing and make my hair even more limp, so in an effort to find a conditioner that will detangle, tame, and provide softness without weighing the whole lot down I tried and tested a fair few.

5 Tips for Big Hair

Wash it less
Every time you wash your hair you're stripping it of it's natural oils. The more frequently you wash your hair, the more it'll counterbalance by producing more oils and therefore leave your hair greasy looking and flat at the root. So, if you can whack on a bit of dry shampoo and go an extra day without washing it (I love me some third-day-hair updos) you'll see more volume all round.

Holiday Beauty | Face Masks

The scary thing about choosing which beauty things to bring on holiday (particularly if you'll be attending an event) is that you don't know what skin catastrophe is around the corner. What if I breakout / get dehydrated skin / need a brightener or oil control? You just can;t bring everything, so what do you bring to combat it all? Here're my face mask picks for any eventuality.

Face of the Day | Barbican

I opted for an easy look on my day out in Barbican and kept the tones neutral and the makeup minimal. I lined my eyes with a felt tip liner to give a little definition and kept my base and lips nude. It's super easy and quick to apply so I can spend my day enjoying the sights and sun without fading or touch-ups.

Dear Bloggers

It use to be that keeping a blog was like keeping an online diary... somewhere to store thoughts and ideas without the inhibitions of confiding in another person. With the rise of the blogger readership, however, these personal tributes have become more about saying what people think they should

Charcoal for Beauty

Charcoal is well known to be highly beneficial for filtering toxins from the body and restoring balance within internal organs. It's often taken in supplement form, but I've been experimenting over the past few months with using it externally. Because it adsorbs toxins and impurities, I figured it

Pretty in Pink

I'm not usually drawn to pink and have never before owned a pink nail colour but when I saw the Butter London nail polish in Fruit Machine I was sold. It's the perfect pastel pink shade that's neither too blue nor too yellow and looks great on toenails, too (I'm a bit pickier with the colours on my feet).

Pop It Like It's Hot

As a girl who keeps her hair and makeup pretty neutral, I love to splash on a bit of colour with a bold lip. There's nothing easier to take you from a day to night than applying a bit of lippy and I have been loving the Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipstick in Ole Flamingo!

It's super easy to apply with the doe-foot applicator and dries matte in seconds. It's a pretty intense colour so there's no smearing it on lightly but you can definitely build the intensity up even more with an added layer or two. My favourite thing about this colour is that it's got blue undertones which really suits my peachy pink completion and makes my teeth look whiter. It does transfer a little (sorry, boys) but because it's matte it has pretty good staying power and you won't need to apply after every bite or sip over dinner or drinks. This colour will look great with most looks but I like to wear it with a very simple eye for minimal effort and maximum effect. The contrast between the neutral eye and undone hair with the statement lip is a sure fave with me.

What's your favourite 'pop of colour' lipstick?

Wax Lyrical

When it's time to unwind from the day there's nothing I love more than tying my hair back, slapping on a face mask, and lighting a candle. I love my evening routine and as soon as the sun starts to set the candles come out. I've built up quite the waxy collection and love to fit my scent to my mood.

Bobby Pin Tricks

We've all got 'em (although the need to keep restocking is insane... am I right?) but too many of us are not using them to their full effect. Here are three tips that will give your bobby pin tale a much happier ending:

Sexy Library

I love a good scent (who doesn't?) and reed diffusers are my favourite way to keep my space smelling great, effortlessly. While room sprays only last a short time (and are full of chemicals I just don't want to spread around) and constantly burning candles isn't the most cost-effective, reed diffusers are

Heaven Scent

Although I've collected enough perfumes to last me a lifetime, I tend to go though phases of loving and wearing just one for a season at a time. Recently I've been reaching for Prada Milano.

It's mature and musky but still light and summery and has something very unique to it that I just can't

Holiday Packing

So I was down in southwest England for a bit of R&R away from the hustle and bustle of busy London life and previous to packing was thinking a fair bit about what to bring. As I'm sure is true for most people, I'm not keen on spending an hour or so planning what I'll be wearing for the next week, especially considering the oh-so-changeable English weather. I've never been one for planning

June Favourites 2014 | Video

Summer is a time when most of us are feeling a little bolder about trying out new colours, styles, and products. I've been no exception. And here is what has come out on top in the form of my monthly favourites:

Low-End Brand
This was a difficult one because although I love a lot of drugstore brands (hello Revlon lipsticks, MaxFactor mascaras, and Maybelline Color Tattoos), for all around products Bourjois is on top form.

Stone Cold Silver

I'm a massive lover of silver jewellery (check out my Toetally Ringed post here). Show me something silver in colour and simplistic in style and I'm besotted, so over the past few months I've acquired a little bundle to be proud of.

Take a Brow

Let me start out by spoiling the ending to this post... I'm in LOVE with this brow pencil. It's everything I could want in a brow product and I can't believe I did my brows for so many years without it.

Toetally Ringed

I'm a sucker for silver jewellery so it was no surprise that my love for little silver rings extended from my fingers to my toes.

Adorning them threw me back to the nineties when chokers, temporary tattoos, and toe rings were all you needed to feel like you'd made it in life. There's definitely something to be said for nineties trends

Let's Base It...

As a girl who likes a light, dewy base (usually achieved with a bb cream or concoction of my favourite foundation and moisturiser) the thought of a powder base frightened me. No matter what time of year it is, I still like to see the skin's natural texture and a slight glow and powder foundation

12 Jun 2014

You can spend a small fortune on the right foundation and rack up quite the palette collection (ehem, guilty) but it's no good if you're not using the right tools. There are endless brushes out there that all claim to make you look flawless so it can be difficult to know which ones to fall for.

Green Smoothies

We all know that green juices and smoothies are great for our internal and external health (digestion, metabolism, immune system, glowing skin, cell replenishment, bone strength, muscle rehabilitation... the list goes on), but instead of spending a packet on pre-packaged juices, why not tailor your green drinks to your body?

Making Makeup Stay All Day

So the hot weather is abounding (or, at least I hear it is in other countries... London, why so glum?) and we're wanting glowy bases and dewy faces. But that also means stashing away our matte foundations and opting for ones with a radiance-enhancing technology. For us with oiler skin, that

Moisture Mix

A good moisturiser, for me, is the most difficult beauty product to find. Perhaps it's because I've been blessed (or not) with oily skin or maybe there just aren't that many holy grails out there (correct me if I'm wrong and totally missing something here).

Stick or Switch

So I've been thinning about my skincare regimen and, more to the point, my skin's reactions to it. You hear a lot of theories, especially in the blogging world, about the benefits of having a routine but also about the benefits of switching up your skincare for best results. I've tried sticking to what I know is

Cleansers | It's a Steal

I'm a sucker for a good exfoliator and having oily skin means I'm prone to reaching for something a little more granular. I adore Ocean Salt by LUSH which, after a minute or so if buffing into the skin, leaves my face feeling softer and smoother than anything else. The avocado butter and coconut oil

The Stationery Edit

It may seem quite frivolous but actually having nice things around you that you enjoy using makes work a lot more fun and therefore productive. We all know having a clear desk means having a clear mind and this philosophy is extended to our stationery, too. It's the same principal as going for a

You may have read my recent review of the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum and I'm still just as in love. My skin doesn't like when the weather changes and tends to play up a bit (dry patches, breakouts, patchiness...) but this serum has worked wonders for me and completely revolutionised my testy skin.

Mason Jars | Cheat the Trend

We've all seen the mason-jar-paper-straw photos on Instagram recently and let's be honest, it's pretty cute. But instead of heading to the nearest kitchenware store, I bet your house is already filled with jars waiting to be filled with green juice.

Eyeshadows | It's a Steal

This week my It's a Steal series is back with a vengeance. I love a good neutral eye and am a sucker for anything taupe, bronze, or cream so I have amounted quite the shadow collection over the years. I've paired my drugstore favourites down to the absolute best (and what I wear most frequently) and

12 May 2014

DIY Toner

Toning is an often overlooked yet essential part of any beauty regimen. Sweeping it over the face after cleansing makes sure any makeup (particularly eye makeup) or cleanser residue is removed while rebalancing your skin's PH levels to help mattify oiler skin and retain moisture for drier skin.

The Best Method for Growing Hair

Although we're coming into summer now and all we really want is to whack off our hair and let the warm breeze hit the back of our neck, the want for long, mermaid-esque waves is still going strong. Having long locks sometimes feels like an impossible challenge, but is leaving it to grow actually counter productive?
